The investigation found a significant association between poor oral health bleeding , loss of attachment of teeth to bone , and tooth and lower performance on cognitive tests . The association – which was not influenced by ages – might be linked to systematic inflammation caused by periodontal disease , or to nutritional deficiencies caused by changes in diet related to poor oral health .
