<p>Three full baths should be taken weekly until the trouble begins to subside. The number of baths thereafter may be reduced to two weekly and finally to one.  </p>
<p>The affected areas should also be bathed twice in hot water containing Epsom salt. After the bath a little olive oil may be applied. The skin should be kept absolutely clean by daily friction or sponge. </p>

<p>The latter should be done keeping the back upright. Controlling one&#8217;s weight is another important step towards relieving backache as excess weight greatly increases the stress on soft back tissues.  </p>
<p>Those with sedentary occupations should take a break to stand up every hour. Soft cushioned seats should be avoided and position should be changed as often as possible. Persons with back problems should sleep on a firm mattress on their sides with knees bent at right angles to the torso. They should take care never to bend from the waist down to lift any object but instead should swat close to the object, bending the knees but keeping the back straight, and then stand up slowly. </p>

<p>The balance or equilibrium of these chemical elements in the body is an essential factor in the maintenance of health and healing of disease. The acid-alkaline balance plays a vital role in this balanced body chemistry. All foods, after digestion and absorption leave either an acid or alkaline ash in the body depending on their mineral composition. The normal body chemistry is approximately 20 per cent acid and 80 per cent alkaline. This is the acid-alkaline balance.  </p>
<p>In normal health, the reaction of the blood is alkaline and that is essential for our physical and mental well-being. The preponderance of alkalis in the blood is due to the fact that the products of the vital combustions taking place in the body are mostly acid in character. Carbohydrates and fats form about nine-tenths of the normal fuel of the body. IN normal health, this great mass of material is converted into carbon dioxide gas and water. Half of the remaining one-tenth fuel is also converted into the same gas and water. This huge amount of acid is transported by the blood to the various points of discharge, mainly the lungs. By virtue of alkalinity, the blood is able to transport the acid from the tissues to the discharge points.  </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A new study suggests that if you a family history of cancerous brain tumors, it may put you at a higher risk of developing the same kind of tumors.</p>
<p>In this study, published in the Sept. 23 issue of Neurology, the researchers examined the medical records and family histories of almost 1,401 people who had either astrocytomas (tumors in the brain or spinal cord) or glioblastomas that is considered a more aggressive kind of astrocytomas.</p>
<p>The researchers found that the people who had immediate relatives with glioblastomas were at two times more likely to develop these tumors as well. And similarly, people who had immediate relatives with astrocytomas had four times higher risk of developing the same kind of tumor.</p>
<p>Dr. Deborah Blumenthal, from the Huntsman Cancer Institute at University of Utah in Salt Lake City, said: “Our findings suggest that people who have a family history of brain tumors must make tell their doctors about them and discuss the involved risk factors.”</p>
<p>“We are quite hopeful that further studies in this connection will surely help to find out the genes that may become the cause of developing such sorts of brain tumors,” she added.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>According to John Hopkins researchers, regular aerobic exercise and weightlifting may reduce high liver fat levels in patients with type2 diabetes.</p>
<p>High levels of fat are quite common in patients with type2 diabetes and they often seem to contribute in heart disease risk.</p>
<p>77 diabetic men and women took part in the study and they were divided into two groups. One group was asked to do three 45-minute sessions of moderate aerobic exercises including brisk walking and bicycling for six months. They were also asked to do three 20-minute sessions of weightlifting per week.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the other group was not asked to do any formal aerobic fitness or gym classes.</p>
<p>With the help of MRI scans, the researchers found that patients with exercise regime had lower levels of liver fat (5.6 percent) than the patients without exercise regime (8.5 percent).</p>
<p>The researchers also noted that the exercise group had better fitness, less body weight and fat than those in the non-exercise group .The exercise group had 13 percent higher oxygen uptake, 7 percent lower body fat and weight and 2-inch smaller waistline.</p>
<p>The study has been presented at the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation annual meeting, in Indianapolis.</p>
<p>According to an estimate, around 14 million Americans suffer from type2 diabetes.</p>
