Men who eat a lot of processed meat and high fat dairy products may have poorer sperm quality, reports journal fertility and sterlity. Researchers studied the dietary habits and sperm quality of 61 men attending a fertility clinic.
Men who consumed more fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products had better sperm quality. The 30 men with poor sperm quality ate more processed meat and high fat dairy products. While antioxidants in fruits and vegetables may protect sperm from damage,fatty foods may expose men to contaminants, antibiotics and harmones given to farm animals.
